Pacific Grove is perched at the tip of the Monterey Peninsula, between Monterey and Carmel. With the crashing surf of the Pacific Ocean on one side and the calm, tranquil waters of the Monterey Bay on the other, Pacific Grove abounds with natural beauty. Pacific Grove is the over-wintering home to the Monarch butterfly from October through March, and thousands of visitors from around the world flock to view the natural phenomenon. With mild weather year-round, visitors enjoy a bounty of outdoor activities including: hiking, biking, scuba diving, kayaking, sailing, tennis and golf. Pacific Grove offers miles of trails along its beachfront and forested areas with many picture perfect spots for picnicking.

When author, Robert Lewis Stevenson happened upon Pacific Grove he wrote, “I have never been in any place that seemed so dreamlike.”

Founded in 1875 as a Methodist Retreat, the City holds great pride and preservation in its history. Author, John Steinbeck wrote in his famous book, Cannery Row, “Carmel by the sea, Monterey by the smell, and Pacific Grove by God.” Pacific Grove has maintained this sense of purity, currently boasting over a dozen churches of assorted denominations within the city limits of just under 3 miles.

History abounds in Pacific Grove. As you enter the city, you will immediately be taken by the beautiful Victorian streetscapes, which have changed little since the turn of the 19th century. Many of these historic buildings now house unique gift shops, art galleries, and restaurants. Stately Victorian manors and craftsman-style structures have been transformed into luxurious accommodations for travelers.
